We are Ilfracombe running club, a fun, friendly, and relaxed club where anyone and everyone is welcome. Whatever your fitness level or running ability you will be well looked after here with us.
We are a very diverse group and we all get something different from our running, we have members who run for fun, for fitness, to socialise, we have speedy runners, slow runners, people who love park runs, members who run marathons and even some who run ultra marathons.
“The club is a great place to meet new friends and share running experiences, running is a great outlet to refocus mentally and stay fit and strong” – Kevin Reed IRC Member
Our main night is on a Thursday at 7pm. We meet at Ilfracombe football club for the most part, and in the winter this sees us run different routes around our lovely town.
However, when the nights get lighter, we have a huge selection of beautiful routes around the local area where we will meet up and go for a run - usually ending up in one of the town's many fine culinary establishments for a liquid refreshment and a good laugh. We also have Monday evening sprint sessions quite regularly at 7pm.
The summer sees the return of our relay nights where we run 2 mile relays in teams from the club against other clubs around North Devon. This always ends with a huge buffet put on by the host club. Throughout the year we attend many different races, often going as a club in mini buses and making a day of it.
“ Founded in 2013, the club has been growing steadily ever since - we are not a big club but we are a family. We have had lots of successes over the years, from beginners joining and exceeding their goals, all the way through to runners with podium finishes."– Andrew Woof (IRC Chairman).
This club will welcome you whatever your age, ability, or fitness level. It doesn’t matter whether you can run 1 mile or 100 miles, if you want to be part of a friendly running family, to get fit, improve your mental health, make new friends or even just to socialise - come and try Ilfracombe Running Club.
